Karma Chameleon

I got rather bored in a lecture and drew this on the inside of my pad with my fineliners! (I'd been watching David Attenborough's Life in Cold Blood the night before).

EDM #158 Draw a Kernel of Popcorn

Popcorn! I enjoyed eating it and choosing some interesting shapes.

I haven't had much time for posting lately, hence the catch up today.

EDM # 157 Draw a Towel

A fortnight ago I'd just come back from a very cold and snowy outdoor management course, which was great! I was very glad I bought some thermals, and the towel fitted in this picture. So here is my quick painting for EDM # 157.

Postcard From Anita

This is my reply poscard from Anita. I think he's great! I also love the colours in the sea/sand. You're very talented Anita!

Postcard to Anita

I have a slight obsession with geese after reading Mick Inkpen's 'Honk' (a Kipper book). I know I'm far too old for that sort of thing, but I do anyway. So I chose geese to paint for Anita. Unfortunately I still can't get watercolour to scan well.

Winding Walls

This is a coloured pencil sketch from a photo I took last year whilst walking in Wales. I loved the winding stone walles. I tried originally a more realistic version which didn't work out, so I let myself colour in a smoother fashion and this is the result.

Hidden Linings

I loved the lining materials on my new jeans so I painted them! You'd never guess they were there from the outside.

Texture

A new leaf stamper and a creative moment!

Return of Pig

Pig is quite a character. He loves posing, dancing and generally thinks the world revolves around him. Despite this he is very huggy and enjoys fulfilling his life purpose of being a microwaveable beany heat pack. He will be thrilled to be on here again. He's great to practice drawing on!

Goslings Join the Picnic

As breaks from revision I've been drawing... unfortunately it ends up more like revising between breaks from drawing! I love these pencil crayons, the colours and blending work really well. This came straight out my head.

Winter Sunset

For several days in a row the sunset was amazing after having rained all day. The trees silhouetted against the sky really stood out.

Broadwater

This is Broadwater, near Tywyn, Mid Wales. I had lots of great walks with my Grandpa round here and in the Peak District. Hasn't scanned that well because of the paper but you get the idea!

Powis

End of term at uni was rather hectic so havn't had time for much drawing. Having finished now I've done a couple of things for Christmas presants. This is Powis Castle in Wales for my Grandma, we went there at Easter this year.

Lion King

I listened to some of the music from The Lion King, and had to draw this. It was a very very quick sketch in oil pastels, just something to get the idea out my head and onto paper. It probably comes as a memory from the film.

EDM #142 Something Hot

Pig! Is full of beans and goes in the microwave. He gets all warm and is great for putting on achey joints.

Painting Machine

Following the preivous post this is a drawing I did for the railway's volunteer magazine. A lot of engines are being repainted at the moment so I drew this fictional machine. This is posted as Juj liked the bike drawing so this is kind of similar.

Slate Siding

As a hobby I volunteer on the Talyllyn Railway - a narrow gauge steam railway in mid Wales. To cut a long story short about why I go... a lot of my best friends go there and it's in a beautiful valley. I do drawings for their volunteer magazine, and was asked to do this for a childrens quiz sheet. The line used to carry slate so I was asked to draw the view from the museum like it would have been in the days when it was a slate wharf. Quite a challenge with little to go from! This was the result.

EDM #1 Draw a Shoe

My walking shoe in coloured pencil. Best fitting shoe I've had in years! (Complete with Peak District mud) I sat down and drew this in a bit under an hour (it was supposed to be a quick one!) The material is textured and shiny so was quite hard to draw.

Line Drawings

This blog doesn't really show the type of drawings I do a lot of: ink cartoons type doodles. This is from a birthday card for a friend who likes cycling and is on the civil engineering course for me. It's a bike adapted with lots of surveying kit. I love drawing this sort of thing and letting my imagination run riot. This was originally in brown ink.

Autumn

This is a postcard I made after I visited Ryton Organic Gardens with some of my family last weekend. It was a quick sketch in water soluble markers. It was the first time I'd used them so I thought the pumpkin came out well, wasn't too sure about the rest of the garden though.

Welcome

This is a creative outlet for me, somewhere I can put some of my artwork for myself and others to see. Please feel free to leave comments, I love to hear them!
